Current mood: depressed

When good days go bad
Point one: My cat Mannix -- you know, the prettiest, nicest, most playful one -- has an enlarged heart and some of that cardiomyopathy shit that House is always talking about. It's progressive and ultimately deadly, and treatment is no guarantee. Doing what we can to keep the Grim Reaper at bay means giving him two medications...all I ask is that they be injectable...Mannix does not like pills, gels, liquids, treats, or any food corrupted by medication.

Point two: I was doing one of those breast self exams and felt a hard pea-sized lump. Or at least I think I felt a hard pea-sized lump...breasts feel like they're full of worms as it is, so who knows. I'm going to recheck that mammary in a week and see if that dang thing is still there. If it is, it's off to the doctor I go.

And today was shaping up so nicely...

Most of the time that just ends up dissipating or it's just a fluke thing, I wouldn't worry too much about the lump, really. But yeah do get that shit checked out if it's around in a while. Yarr.

Best of luck with Mannix, too. I'm glad you have him and not someone else who wouldn't have bothered to take care of him.

Hey, as my mama always says, "If you don't laugh, you'll cry."

Glad to be of service. You know I <3 you :)

Sorry your day went to suckville. I know it sounds dumb to say "don't worry" but I hope you don't worry too much. Kudos to you for doing your self checks. I have found things that felt odd and then went away, I can go from lumpy to pliable in a few days as the tissue changes throughout the month. Hopeully yours will meld back into their normal and lovely state.

Also, HA. I missed your last Manolo post and was scrolling through and went "HA, that is me and my bestie being cheap whiskey ladies!". The context cracked me up in conjunction with the single girl to-do list because I am a most happily shacked up divorcee and Jenn has been married for ten years. Between the two of us we have five kids. But we rock. the. fucking. house.

My things to do before marriage list for men and women alike: Live alone for awhile. Get your financial mojo together. Keep your resume updated so you never have to sell yourself short. Take a road trip by yourself. Make excellent friends and keep up with them even if you fall in love. Learn what you enjoy, decide what your needs are and be honest about those things when presenting yourself. You know, the kind of stuff no marriage should prevent in the first place. Except maybe the living alone part.

I'm gonna play the odds here for a second. Most lumps in younger womens' breasts are fibrous, meaning you'll have a mammogram and then they'll say, hmmm, well you're so young you need an ultrasound and after you're all freaked out they'll say, oh its just a fibroid cyst. I've had a few pea sized lumps myself and they resolved on their own. (Its still scary as all hell especially if you have any family history of breast cx)

My sis has gone through this multiple times. Even had a needle biopsy last time around. BUT, its always better to be safe than sorry.

/me worries over you until she hears otherwise.
